Sydney Photography Session tips
Keep it simple. For parents, plain block colours work well - For siblings, textures are nice (lace etc), plain neutral colours work well for both studio and outdoor portraits
Avoid large logos and patterns as they can be distracting
For newborn sessions the studio will be warm, so wearing layers is a good idea
If possible, I encourage you not to bribe your children or promise special treats BEFORE your photo session
Instead, let’s save those for later in the session if we need them (and avoid chocolate as it is messy and sticky!)
Bringing along some snacks like crackers/sultanas etc are a good idea if you have small children, as well as extra water or milk if they need a little break during the session
Children are the responsibility of the parents for the duration of the session
For newborn/studio sessions, I aim to shoot the family and sibling poses first in the session. Capturing a toddler and newborn together can sometimes be a challenge, depending on the age of the older children
Once family/sibling photos have been taken (newborn sessions), I encourage Dad’s to take their older children out for a little walk, play out the back or sit down with a few toys (I have toys in my studio) while I continue on posing the newborn on their own.
